Subsea 7 is a Norwegian industrial company that operates underwater services for the oil industry worldwide. Subsea 7 is the results of mergers between the Søndenfjelds-Norwegian Dampskipsselskap (DSND), Halliburton Subsea, Subsea Offshore and Rock Water. The company has roots back to DSND which was established in 1854. At the beginning of 1990-century DSND bought up a number of offshore vessels with dynamic positioning. Between 1995 and 2002, the company purchased them up and got a significant position in the offshore maintenance and construction. In 2002 formed DSND and Halliburton Subsea 7 joint venture In January 2005, Halliburton bought out. The main actions are Siem Offshore. In 2007 the company as a whole had 3 920 employees. Headquartered in George Town (Cayman Islands) in the Cayman Islands. In February 2007 Subsea 7 was awarded a $17m contract from StatoilHydro for engineering and installation of the Snorre B Riser Replacement project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. In August 2008 it was awarded a $100m contract from StatoilHydro for engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the Troll B Gas Injection project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
