17.04.2015 / Sonatrach
Sonatrach has announced that, in medium term, its gas production capacity will increase to reach, by 2019, 151 Bcm.
In 2014, 131 Bcm of natural gas has been produced, 27 Mcm was exported through gas pipeline and 28 Mcm made in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was exported via LNG tankers.
In fact, this increase in gas output will hail from the exploitation of a number of gas deposits that are meant to begin, progressively, producing in the next five years.
The new gas fields have been developed through Sonatrach’s own efforts, located in Tinihert (Illizi), Gassi Touil (Ouargla) Ahnet (In Salah) Menzel Ledjmet Est (Illizi) and Bir Berkine (Ouargla).
By 2019, three gas projects are to be developed by partnership; the first one links Touat Gas to French Group GDF Suez; the second concerns Sud In Salah in partnership with BP and Statoil and the third project joins Reggane Nord to Repsol, RWE DEA and Edisson.
