Company descriptionMWM Energy Australia Pty Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent company MWM GmbH, and was registered in November 2007 in Victoria.
Products and servicesThe MWM business of large gas and diesel engines was originally part of the Deutz Australia business from 1952. In the late 1990s the power systems division was formed and quickly sold more than 125 large size gas and diesel engines (i.e. above 300 kW) for power generation use into Australia, taking a significant market share in the process. This equates to an installed user base of almost 198 MW with total operating hours in excess of 2.7 million.
In October 2007 the business split and MWM ENERGY AUSTRALIA (MWM) was established. MWM currently employs 15 personnel Australia wide with an annual turnover in the tens of millions Australian Dollars. Its head office is in Melbourne and branches are located in Sydney and Geraldton. MWM sells approximately 20-30 gas and diesel engines into Australia each year and has a strong support network of competent OEMs and generator packagers around Australia to assist with power station design and installation.
There are more than 35 major power stations Australia wide with installed MWM gas and diesel engines in places such a Werribee and Carrum Downs (VIC), Shoal Haven, Camellia, Eastern Creek and Malabar (NSW), Eromanga and Gold Coast (QLD), Andamooka (SA) and Onslow, Gin Gin, Geraldton and Mt. Magnet (WA), to name a few. Remote power stations are not uncommon for MWM and in fact make up 50% of installed power stations, with 21 new gas fired MWM generators commissioned into the Western Australia remote mining towns of Sunrise Dam and Darlot. These projects involves the transport of LNG to the mines to power the generators.
MWM has also secured orders for high profile customers such as Bovis Lend Lease, Tooheys Brewery, Star City Casino, Investa, Adelaide University and Honeywell, amongst others.
MWM has continued its technical development of the gas engine, and the proportion of gas engines in total factory production output has consistently grown over the last 20 years. Today, nearly 90% of MWM’s annual production is gas generator sets.
Standby and continuous duty diesel power stations have also been a success for MWM ENERGY AUSTRALIA with projects such as the 20MW Newman Mine (WA), Coober Pedy (SA), Sunrise Dam (WA), KENS Building (NSW), Auckland Hospital, North Shore City Council (Auckland), Energex (Queensland), Siromet Wines (Queensland) and Telstra (NSW) all relying on MWM diesel power.
