Egypt Oil & Gas Report

July 2017

With recent instability having largely calmed, Egypt is in the process of recovering its position as a regional power and a serious global hydrocarbons contender. The first two years of the presidency of H.E. Abdel Fattah El Sisi, interviewed in full in this report, have seen encouragement gained from the supergiant Zohr gas discovery in 2015 and several large-scale megaprojects slated for 2017 openings such as BP’s West Nile Delta and Siemens’ Egypt Megaproject. Despite the ongoing issues of political insurgency, the Egyptian administration plans to capitalize on the country’s relative stability and rebalancing economy; positioning Egypt as the Eastern Mediterranean’s principal energy and transit hub.
